Where Is It That You Don’t Want To Go? : here
… we fun-seeking humans will do lots of things to avoid feeling bad. We shop. We eat. We yell. We procrastinate… are they leading us closer to where and who we are called to be? Go deeper. Be reflective and aware of the emptiness of those surface solutions. Lisa Kelly
unyielding skin stretches
eyes dig fleeting shadows
torpid toes cramp
shallow breath shrinks
i don’t want to be here
precious altar tumbles
toxic mud ruptures
ruins my comfortable ruts
i don’t want to be here
but i cannot escape
me
You
wallowing
herein
vile dust and dung
slipping in menacing mudslide
breathing
wreck and rubble
collapsed idols
frozen toes
sightless eyes
confining skin
there is nowhere to go
from here
where i don’t want to go

Dean Brackley, SJ’s quote is found in today’s selection in An Ignatian Book of Days by Jim Manney is a series of daily reflections from the Spiritual Wisdom of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Throughout the book we hear the voices of St. Ignatius as well as many great thinkers and writers, long gone and present day, each uniquely revealing the way of finding God in all things. And that is my intention; to find God/Divine Presence/Ultimate Reality in whatever presents itself to me each day in 2024.
Each day I read, reflect and write on the selection, hoping to articulate the ways in which I come to know God/Divine Presence/Ultimate Reality via personal experience, impelled by the leading of my inner life.
