What a transformation occurs in our lives, how rapidly we begin to change, when we realize how much and how unconditionally (God) loves and accepts us. Anthony de Mello, SJ

What does it take for me to believe
I am loved?

The imploring black eyes of my pup
yearning for me to open mine?
The first breath of Spring teasing my tongue?
Radiant warmth in my cozy casita?
Greek yogurt berries Liberica coffee?
Nimble hand scribbling these words?
Appreciative eye seeing you?

There is not a single thing in my life
that is not limitless gift
star strewn midnight
peach fuzz sunrise
mud dust ice cream
daughter’s voice neighbor’s wave

There is not a single thing
I have done or ever could do
to summon boundless generosity
that breathes me whole
bows me holy
kissing the knees of the cosmos

Every creeping itch
each titillating tickle
is a Red-Letter moment
born on the windy breath
of unspeakable love

Poem by Debra Asis

Anthony de Mello, SJ’s above quote is found in today’s selection in An Ignatian Book of Days by Jim Manney, a series of daily reflections from the Spiritual Wisdom of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Throughout the book we hear the voices of St. Ignatius as well as many great thinkers and writers, long gone and present day, each uniquely revealing the way of finding God in all things. And that is my intention; to find God/Divine Presence/Ultimate Reality in whatever presents itself to me each day in 2024.

Each day I read, reflect and write on the selection, hoping to articulate the ways in which I come to know God/Divine Presence/Ultimate Reality via personal experience, impelled by the leading of my inner life.
