“…..Any politician who believes that the poor are “parasites” clearly violates the central moral teaching of Jesus — and a political movement based on such beliefs puts a nation in jeopardy of God’s judgment.

That’s the politics of woe, the politics of the wealthiest man in the world, the politics of MAGA — demeaning and abusing those whom God favors.

A friend forwarded Diana Butler Bass’s substack “The Cottage” musings to me this morning. Bass’s words made me cry, all the kinds of tears, because they are words that must be spoken, boldly shouted. So I will post Bass’s concluding remarks for you and do something I have never done before, post them on Twitter or X or whatever.

Blessed are the poor and woe to us fail to join God in blessing them with our favor.
