God’s animating Spirit
Breathes creation
Into being… and receives it back again
Life is not rife
Until breath abounds
In the absence of Spirit
Life is not found
Death does not reign
Until breath ceases
In the absence of Spirit
Being releases
Breath…. Air…. Wind
God’s animating Spirit
Breathes creation
Into being… and receives it back again
Well, then, you query, “What is this breathing God?”
Some say “The infinite generosity of boundless creativity.”
Others add “The animating force of all that is.”
We must protest “There is no unbreakable bottle for breath.”
