Light: A word for today

Job asks, “Why is light given to him that is in misery, and life to the bitter in soul…?’ (Job 3.20)

Oh, to be hidden in the world!
champion of darkness
better to be blind than
bring darkness to light

Oh, to be hidden in the world!
shrouded by gloom
covered in obscurity
sheltered in sightlessness

Speaking on behalf of God, Isaiah declares,
“And I will lead the blind in a way that they know not, in paths that they have not known I will guide them. I will turn the darkness before them into light, the rough places into level ground.” (Isaiah 42.16)

Lesser light brindles night
dazzling light dapples day
pillared light brightens the way
bares faint hearted humanity
