stillness steps aside
i wait wonder wander
round flurries and flutters of my bending mind

do i trust? do i really trust
do i mean it when i sing
David’s song of God’s trustworthiness?
Protect me, O God, for in you I take refuge.
I say to the Lord, ‘You are my Lord;
I have no good apart from you.’

do i trust? do i really trust
Your desire is my desire?
The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
I have a goodly heritage.

do i trust? do i really trust
dreams breeding my night?
I bless the Lord who gives me counsel;
in the night also my heart instructs me.

do i trust? do i really trust
butterflies and rousing sunrise?
Therefore my heart is glad, and my soul rejoices;
my body also rests secure.
For you do not give me up to Sheol,
or let your faithful one see the Pit.

do i trust? do i really trust
absolute fullness of life meant for me?
You show me the path of life.
In your presence there is fullness of joy;
in your right hand are pleasures for evermore.
(Psalm 16.1,2 6,7,9–11)

Breadcrumb

Last night I dreamed of a beautiful home, full of light and possibility in downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico. This morning I take a deep breath, stretch, make an offer to purchase it because I choose to trust, “I am meant to have life in all its fullness.” (John 10.10) (and I will also check out the HOA because mind and Spirit work together!)

The assignment that brings me to the writing of these words is to unapologetically tell the story of how God nudges, cajoles, drop kicks and masters me to be the real human being that I am … becoming … following God’s Jeweled Breadcrumbs. My daily writing challenge for 2025 is to share the Breadcrumbs with you.
