Jeweled Breadcrumb #9 : linger in longing
metal silence slices thin air
mercury mind stains virgin canvas
pregnant i stand
one leg on either side
of what is no longer
and not yet
midnight and noon
flick my wit
tickle my flighty mind
dare me to color castles
or cling to yesterday
Jesus said
Let the dead bury the dead
but as for you
proclaim the kingdom of God (Luke 9.60)
straddling time’s threshold
of what is no longer
and not yet
i linger
in heaven’s waiting room
uncertainty storming sure harbor
ship’s beacon bellowing beware
fall not behind
nor leap ahead
welcome sovereign rapture
of time’s holy space
Breadcrumb
Liminal space between what is no longer and not yet is dangerous. Treading lightly in uncertainty, I must beware; neither cling to the past now leap into illusory future. Better to linger in longing between this and that.

The assignment that brings me to the writing of these words is to unapologetically tell the story of how God nudges, cajoles, drop kicks and masters me to be the real human being that I am … becoming … following God’s Jeweled Breadcrumbs. My daily writing challenge for 2025 is to share the Breadcrumbs with you.
