Jeweled Breadcrumb #42 : Sunday’s prayer for troubled times
For every minute of news I absorb, I must pray for two. It is up to me who and what has access to the real estate of my heart, my soul, my mind, my time. I refuse to be seized by seas of disgrace and let all that is holy be erased. O God, help me!
seized by seas dredging disgrace
principled decency erased
this troubled mind is suffused
massed firings and breaking news
O God please have your way with me
i am losing my way with you
beset by sadness and dejection
for fine people whose rejection
of counterfeit sovereignty
begets them woe and poverty
O God please have your way with me
i am losing my way with you
news latest dispatch like a drug
disturbs my peace from you unplugs
stealing real estate of my heart
kidnapping my better part
O God please have your way with me
i am losing my way with you
i need assistance to ignore
unhinged antics I deplore
insist on recollecting light
magnify favor, good and right
O God please have your way with me

I snapped. Saturday night streaming four episodes of PBS’ “Funny Woman” in series I snap. I am numbing, numbing myself from being here now. Numbing myself from the inordinate amount of my treasured time and temperament I am giving to unrelenting breaking news.
The enemy of my whole and holy human consciousness sneaks in saying, “You must stay informed.” Indeed. AND, I must not be invaded. For every minute of news I absorb, I must pray for two. It is up to me who and what has access to the real estate of my heart, my soul, my mind, my time. I refuse to be seized by seas of disgrace and let all that is holy be erased. O God, help me!
