Jeweled Breadcrumb #37 : birth pangs
God is born again today. In every child and every ancient face, holiness prevails.
what if it is not enough
to pray?
patiently persist?
percolate peaceful presence?
what if time is presently
pushing dilating
dim eyes charging
culture’s contractions begging
me to conceive bear
something new something
holy?
how can this be ungodly
thieves trample order? depraved
deprive disabled? acquisitive
acquit acquaintence? masters
malign masses? presidents
pervert power? hostile
hate holiness?
Do not be afraid.
The Holy Spirit is with you …
nothing will be impossible
make then the passage
of my mouth labor pious
to conceive bear
something new something
holy
Breadcrumb
How many decades have I spent conceiving Holy Presence, the One, Tao, Buddha, Ultimate Reality, Light, YHWY, the Christ? Wrestling with words to describe the indescribable? Savoring endless gestation? Satisfied to linger in my gravid womb? Deep down in it feels safe, but the form of embryonic me is pushing, pushing to be expelled, to be delivered proclaiming, God is born again today. In every child and every ancient face, holiness prevails. Still, I contract with the birth pangs. I am afraid to proclaim, “Here am i.”
