Jeweled Breadcrumb #12 : Consent, let Real Presence shine
At its core, presence is compassionate curiosity. Presence is the willingness to be with what is exactly as it is without trying to change or fix it. Presence is our capacity to withhold judgments of value or attempts at analysis and instead put forward the simple desire to learn more about what is coming into our awareness. Presence invites us to get out of the evaluative, story-tumbling mind, and attempt to see only what’s there, as fully as we can, with precision and compassion. Langston Kahn’s, “Deep Liberation”
Consent is the vessel
in which Real Presence flows
With lithe arms open endlessly
to what is truly so
Who would defy the moon to rise
refuse the sea her shore
Will in unholy madness rave
ruled out by reason’s door
But who revers the season
of being such as is
Rises from riled waters
of fear’s dread abyss
Breadcrumb
Earth is the unparalleled paragon of consent. Though her tender womb is ruthlessly plowed and her ancient forests laid bare, earth issues no complaint. Have you ever heard a Juniper lament, “I grow too slowly for my taste. I think I will uproot myself and join the human race?”
Consent does not mean rolling over and being a doormat while others treat us badly. I am definitely not suggesting that any kind of offense. abuse or tragedy is acceptable. I am saying, when we find ourself in a traumatic or in any way undesirable situation from which we cannot escape, consenting to reality exactly as it is invests us with Divine Presence.
