To know when to stop
To know when you can get no further
By your own action,
This is the right beginning! Lao Tzu in “The Way of Chuang Tzu”
rising mounting leaping flying
sweeping cutaway
STOP
chattering trapeze artist mind
executes me with arresting words
when empty
still mind settles
WAITING
to be caught up
receiving the gift
filled mind spills
CALAMITY
making up something
out of nothing
ripened trapeze artist knows
in order to fly
she must let go
TRUST
the catcher
Breadcrumb
Six months of seeking a place to live and when I finally land the gift, voilá, my palm-reading mind foretells catastrophe…. until I remember Lao Tzu’s counsel, “STOP” ruminating on ruination. Reverse the process. Return to the beginning. Forget figuring the future out.
