In The Absence of Nothing, Nothing is There: New Psalm 51

Wash not only my feet, O God
but water my heart.

Only Your goodness can right
my wandering I
reform
my wagging word.

Wobbly moon in wintertide
testing neither tongue nor trial
You abide
my betrayal.

A boastful bag of bones am I
destined for dread dust
tell me why would Holiness wed
this moon-lighting pretender?

Gag my deep throat gong
cut down my clattery carillon.
Wash not only my feet, O God
but water my heart.

Buried in barren baggage I beg
bare this lethal bank
til in the absence of nothing
nothing is there.

Right my wandering I, O God
reform my wagging word
make me see, say and sing
boundless holiness

Lace my words with grace
salt my sentence wise.
Wash not only my feet, O God
but water my heart.
