Herald: A word for today
Calling all angels, that would be you and me.
Can you hear the trumpet? We humans are meant to join the angels and ancient prophets announcing, “Humanity has lost her way and is experiencing the consequences of our, “it’s all about me” culture of acquisitiveness.” We are meant to insist that “Inhumanity is our responsibility but hope is not lost.”
By turning around and making things right (extending mercy and justice for all) we are redeemed as revelations of God present and active on earth. Heralds. We are meant to be the heralds, the message and the messengers, joining our voices to the prophet Isaiah proclaiming,
Get you up to a high mountain, O Zion, herald of good tidings; lift up your voice with strength, O Jerusalem, herald of good tidings, lift it up, fear not; say to the cities of Judah, “Behold your God!” (Isaiah 40.9)
This is the good news. God is with us (all of us) even (and perhaps especially) when we abandon Her.
