Helping Souls: Exchanging blessing
If we can and ought to seek God in all things, then there is no aspect of our human endeavor that is outside of grace or inappropriate for service.
Ronald Modras
No thing too big
no thing too small
not a thing
left out at all
what e’er we humans
dare to do
with open heart
intention true
will satisfy
celestial goal
and sanctify
each earthly soul
I look into
her ghostly eyes
her bobbing head
and recognize
the crosswalk corner
is her crutch
though most pass by
forget her much
Taking ten dollars
from my purse
before the corner
I traverse
open car window
give my hand
to touch and bless and understand
two souls bow low
and consecrate
this holy moment
consummate
No thing too big
no thing too small
not a thing
left out at all
what e’er we humans
dare to do
with open heart
intention true
will satisfy
celestial goal
and sanctify
each earthly soul
Poem by Debra Asis
Robert Modras’ quote is found in to today’s selection in An Ignatian Book of Days by Jim Manney, a series of daily reflections from the Spiritual Wisdom of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Throughout the book we hear the voices of St. Ignatius as well as many great thinkers and writers, long gone and present day, each uniquely revealing the way of finding God in all things. And that is my intention; to find God/Divine Presence/Ultimate Reality in whatever presents itself to me each day in 2024.
Each day I read, reflect and write on the selection, hoping to articulate the ways in which I come to know God/Divine Presence/Ultimate Reality via personal experience, impelled by the leading of my inner life.
