Be grateful for your talents and gifts because they are the raw material out of which you will conceive and shape your life’s purpose.” Chris Lowney

The Gift

In the grip of ignorance
and garishness of light
Unswayed by growling thunder
earth’s tremorous delight
Living within boundaries
observe what passes by
In concentrated darkness
the gleaming jewel abides

There is but one treasure
one incomparable Gift
The Greathearted I Am
Being, such as is
Giving is the vessel
in which Being receives
The Giver is prime mover
I AM unity
This evanescent vigor
impels all humankind
Spin the mystic wheel of life
Being as Divine

Always and everywhere I AM gives generously of its imponderable wealth. By emulating the boundless giving of I AM, there is no end to The Gift we receive, The Gift we are given to “do something and do it well.”.

Who am I to defy
my highest destiny
exerting my will
refusing to use
gifts given to me

Poems & Commentary by Debra Asis

Chris Lowney quote above is found in An Ignatian Book of Days by Jim Manney, a series of daily reflections from the Spiritual Wisdom of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Throughout the book we hear the voices of St. Ignatius as well as many great thinkers and writers, long gone and present day, each uniquely revealing the way of finding God in all things. And that is my intention; to find God/Divine Presence/Ultimate Reality in whatever presents itself to me each day in 2024.

Each day I read, reflect and write on the selection, hoping to articulate the ways in which I come to know God/Divine Presence/Ultimate Reality via personal experience, impelled by the leading of my inner life.
