We should never postpone a good work no matter how small it may be, with the thought of later doing something greater. St. Ignatius Loyola

Vows

Today Latia makes vows
to do what she cannot possibly do
embody a wholesome and holy life
as pastor, priest and teacher

“May the One who has given her the will to do these things
give her the grace and power to perform them.”
(Book of Common Prayer, 524)

Today Tatia fulfills her vows
to do what she cannot possibly do
love, comfort, honor and keep her husband
as he chooses to cease his cause for life

“May the One who has given her the will to do these things
give her the grace and power to perform them.”

Vows for beginning
Vows for ending
Today I bring Tatia to Latia’s ordination
hoping she remembers
always we begin again.

This is the one good thing I can do today.

St. Ignatius’ quote above is found in An Ignatian Book of Days by Jim Manney, a series of daily reflections from the Spiritual Wisdom of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Throughout the book we hear the voices of St. Ignatius as well as many great thinkers and writers, long gone and present day, each uniquely revealing the way of finding God in all things. And that is my intention; to find God/Divine Presence/Ultimate Reality in whatever presents itself to me each day in 2024.

Each day I read, reflect and write on the selection, hoping to articulate the ways in which I come to know God/Divine Presence/Ultimate Reality via personal experience, impelled by the leading of my inner life.
