Do we really experience the life around us, or does it blow by us at the fever pitch of progress? A simple starting point is to pay closer attention to our lives and the people and events that fill them… Did you see that? Did you notice what you were feeling in that moment? Can you experience God in all of this?
Patrick McGrath, SJ

super moon sets
spills morning oblation
gypsum cloud sword
slices cerulean sky
scarlet indian paintbrush
soloist in aster choir
perky pup ears swivel
alert vanishing lizard
did you see that?

big rig driver signals
perfect place to pass
palate of plump tomatoes
garnish market stall
shopper steps aside
invites me to proceed
bustling buser pauses
compliments my eyes
did you see that?

every cloud corner and cousin
sports God’s great-hearted signature
declaring
I AM here… and here… and here
did you see that?

Patrick McGrath, SJs’quote is found in today’s selection in An Ignatian Book of Days by Jim Manney is a series of daily reflections from the Spiritual Wisdom of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Throughout the book we hear the voices of St. Ignatius as well as many great thinkers and writers, long gone and present day, each uniquely revealing the way of finding God in all things. And that is my intention; to find God/Divine Presence/Ultimate Reality in whatever presents itself to me each day in 2024.

Each day I read, reflect and write on the selection, hoping to articulate the ways in which I come to know God/Divine Presence/Ultimate Reality via personal experience, impelled by the leading of my inner life.
