The earth lies polluted under its inhabitants; for they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, broken the everlasting covenant. (Isaiah 24.5)

2800 years ago
the first of 3 Isaiah’s fore-read
‘The State of the Air 2023”
How can this be?

Brazenly breaching
our pledge of alliance
rapacious greed guts
God’s holy hill

Woe are we
heinous inhabitants
slaying the earth and all that is in it
seeding carcinogenic greed

66 million tons of pollution
strangle the lungs
break the heart
of the everlasting covenant
