Whereas God is in all things and all things are in God, what have I done for God? Gerard Hughes, SJ

How shall I respond to being born
to welcoming arms full table?

How shall I respond to inheriting
sound mind strong body?

How shall I respond to receiving
fine education fertile formation?

How shall I respond to gaining
power privilege prestige?

How shall I respond to giving birth
to a perfect baby girl?

How shall I respond to gathering
a gaggle of true-heart friends?

How shall I respond to redeeming
missteps and offenses?

How shall I respond to tears
washing heart clearing mind?

How shall I respond to wonder
suffusing every twig and thistle?

“All that I have and call my own”
is extravagant endowment
so I bend my knees
lift up my heart
return all to The Greater Part

Poem by Debra Asis

Gerard Hughes, SJ’ above quote is found in today’s selection in An Ignatian Book of Days by James Martin, SJ, a series of daily reflections from the Spiritual Wisdom of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Throughout the book we hear the voices of St. Ignatius as well as many great thinkers and writers, long gone and present day, each uniquely revealing the way of finding God in all things. And that is my intention; to find God/Divine Presence/Ultimate Reality in whatever presents itself to me each day in 2024.

Each day I read, reflect and write on the selection, hoping to articulate the ways in which I come to know God/Divine Presence/Ultimate Reality via personal experience, impelled by the leading of my inner life.
