Beauty, Truth & Goodness: An extra measure for Leap Day
Where have I been (in)attentive to the sense of beauty, truth and goodness in my life today? Jan Blumeyer SJ
Today is Leap Day, a gift (February 29). An extra measure of time.
Unwrap the present moment
receive an extra measure of time
to taste and treasure
Beauty, Truth and Goodness
cloaked in
morning, midday, night
crooning harbingers bare delight
More than want or wish or wonder
sing
Hallelujah
declare
Beauty, Truth and Goodness revel here
Tear stone veil from my rebel heart
insist
insurgent cynic depart
sing
Hallelujah
declare
Beauty, Truth and Goodness revel here
Dappled light paints each bush and blade
descant bird song deliciously prays
sing
Hallelujah
declare
Beauty, Truth and Goodness revel here
Unwrap the present moment
receive an extra measure of time
to taste and treasure
Beauty, Truth and Goodness
cloaked in
morning, midday, night
crooning harbingers bare delight
Poem by Debra Asis
The Jan Blumeyer SJ question is found in February 25th (because it is Leap Day!) selection in An Ignatian Book of Days by Jim Manney, a series of daily reflections from the Spiritual Wisdom of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Throughout the book we hear the voices of St. Ignatius as well as many great thinkers and writers, long gone and present day, each uniquely revealing the way of finding God in all things. And that is my intention; to find God/Divine Presence/Ultimate Reality in whatever presents itself to me each day in 2024.
Each day I read, reflect and write on the selection, hoping to articulate the ways in which I come to know God/Divine Presence/Ultimate Reality via personal experience, impelled by the leading of my inner life.
